Connect Laptop to Laptop via WLAN in Windows 7

Woow …. This is great right ?

Your old friend came to your house with his laptop. He got all the pictures of good old days …but hay you don’t have any network cable with RJ45 jack to connect to your laptop and get all the pictures. In worst case you don’t have internet connection also (say) … but you need to have all the pictures .What next?

Don’t worry … as if you have visited this blog you got the solution. J

This can work in Windows XP also but I am writing this for connecting laptop to laptop via WLAN card.

Steps you need to follow

• Go to control panel 
•  Go to Network  and Sharing Center option. See the following screen 

•  Click on the Set up a new connection or network.(Red circled)
•  Now select the option “Set up a wireless Ad hoc”.

 

•  Now after click on the next button a window will display for network name and security and password.

 

• As in here give a name of the network. (e.g.Tikit)
• Select the default security type ‘WPA2-Personal’and password (e.g.random123)
• Select the check box for Save this network.
• You will get a window saying that network is created.
• Now share one of your drive/folder in Windows .
• Start the WLAN device in other laptop and connect the Tikit network.
• It will ask for the password .Give the password what you have given in the time of creating the network.(e.g.random123)
• We are all set. Just open Network (in Windows 7) and you can see your friend’s computer.
• Be sure that both laptop should be under same workgroup. Check the workgroup from Computer properties. If not then make it as same name (e.g.WORKGROUP)

We are all done. Now you can transfer anything between these two laptop. Make sure you sharing of the folder or the drive.
